The colder it is - the slower the crank. It'll fire up after 3-4 seconds but shouldn't be like this. It would sometimes be slow for the first 2 seconds like a dead battery and then would be normal speed and fire up. After initial start up I could switch off and turn the engine back on like normal

Webb26 mars 2024 · After a long discussion with their tech guy explaining what I tried, they sent me a replacement. Guess what? it ground too! I compared both new starters to the old one and saw that the original [slow cranking] starter had a drive gear that stuck out 5/8 ths of an inch. Both new ones, the gear only protruded 3/8 ths of an inch. Webb23 dec. 2024 · 1) Remove the negative battery cable. If you’re using an automatic transmission, remove the torque converter clutch release solenoid as well. 2) Open the hood and disconnect both engine and transmission mounts from the frame. 3) Remove the starter by loosening the two bolts at either side of its base.

Either the battery voltage is not as high as it ought to be (you should see at least 10 volts WHILE cranking), or the motor itself is just weak. Been running errands this morning with my wife, & it's cranking strong every time. I would encourage you to at least clean the strap on the engine. It's a very easy DIY. Webb9 mars 2024 · This is what it's doing, cranks too slow to start. The only way to start it is to jump it directly on the starter. You can't even get it to crank fast by jumpering the solenoid. And bypassing the clutch switch doesn't help. Hear is what I replaced. These parts are all brand new this spring. battery, starter, solenoid, ignition switch. Webb7 juni 2024 · Hyd pressure trying to build up while attempting to crank engine can cause slow starter rpm's. If battery ground cable hasn't been relocated from battery box to engine block I'd suggest to do so. JD also offered an electric operated destroking valve. RE40463 elect destroking kit ADD 603.89 USD.
Webb10 sep. 2024 · Discussion Starter · #1 · Dec 20, 2016 My 08 Chevy Duramax Is starting slow. Acts like weak batteries, but, Ive checked and both 2 year old batteries have more than 600 cranking amps! Ive cleaned the terminals. At rest the batteries have 12.8 volts, drops to 11.8 during starting.
Webb30 maj 2014 · Ryan Angela. Yes, it most certainly can. When you turn the key on, the fuel pump kicks on for 2-3 seconds to top off the pressure in the fuel system. Once they key turns to the start, the pump runs to maintain normal running pressure. However, the OP reported slow initial cranking.
