WebThe Flashback 2 is the only Atari Flashback that does NOT use emulation, and is the only one that can be modded to accept cartridges. I just copied and pasted this from the Wiki page: (Vendel) recreated the original Atari hardware on a single chip, allowing games to run as they originally did. It can go right into the side or front, instead of the back of your tv with no mods to an original 2600. If you like that sort of thing of course. Otherwise you can stay old school and use an original 2600 into the coaxial port.

WebJun 30, 2024 · The Flashback 2+ has a ROM board with pins that hold the built-in games. Some of those pins have to connect to the "Atari on a Chip". I've seen people add a cartridge slot from another Atari 2600 to the flashback 2, but not an NES cartridge slot. I don't think the NES cartridge slot is at all possible because the flashback is a 2600 on a chip and not an NES on a chip, and I haven't seen it done on the first flashback model, but I think it could be done. There are several threads around here showing you detailed instructions on how to do it.
