WebSep 16, 2024 · Electronic Arts has finally said goodbye to the ‘Origin’ branding of its Steam-competitor service and with it part of its history as it repositions for the coming generation. In its place, you can say hello to the mercifully named ‘EA Desktop app’. The 2011-launched storefront was always quite unfortunately named. WebWhen you accept the invitation, the EA app download process will begin. Origin will be uninstalled automatically - this ensures you will not experience any conflicts or errors related to having both clients installed on your PC simultaneously. Once you complete the update process, your games and content will be ready for play.

WebDownloads rarely start, have to go into the folders of the game to pin it to start, fucking doesn't work half the time. Just an all around mess. Origin wasn't any better, but it usually worked. (Usually) Now I can't even boot up Battlefield 1 from steam, have to go into this garbage launcher because "Origin and EA can't be open at the same time". WebUbisoft uPlay allowed people to own two copies of a game (uPlay-only and Steam+uPlay). Origin did not. If you already had a game on Origin, buying it again on Steam, would overwrite and essentially erase the original Origin copy. It was the same the other way around. Buying an Origin version, would overwrite the Steam+Origin version. WebIf you link your Steam account with your Origin account, your games that you own on Origin will not be available on Steam. So you have to buy again all the game you have on Origin if you want them on Steam. It's sad, but it's EA. They do nothing for costumers.
