Sintered basespreform noticably better when waxed and are designed to hold wax. Sintered bases can burn from friction impairing their ability to hold wax and transfer wax to the surface. This will condition the base of a new board and allow you to be able to go longer between waxes. Bases are porous like a sponge, so essentially it needs to be “filled” with wax.
